Description
Whenever I'm out chasing storms I'm always looking for unique and interesting scenes to photograph because the eastern plains of Colorado is filled with hidden gems on those old dirt roads. I came across this scene just after I filmed a tornado that touched down near the small town of Keenesburg, Colorado on 6-19-2018. After the tornado receded I packed up my camera and video equipment and made chase of the storm hoping to catch back up to it. As I was driving, with two other Storm Chasers in tow, I looked to my left to see this lone tree on a hill in a well manicured cornfield and I just knew I had to photograph it! I immediately hit my brakes and pulled to the side of the road to let the other two chasers behind me pass by and I proceeded to run about 300 yards into that field to capture this dreamlike scene of that lone tree framed against the stormcell I had been pursuing. This was such an unexpected pleasant surprise! This is not a composite image, it is a single image shot near the intersection of CR 75 and CR 8 in Roggen, Colorado.
