A sliver of light from the the setting sun finds it's way to the face of a lone sunflower standing strong within a sea of dark despair providing warmth and hope of brighter days ahead. This dramatic image was shot in a field under stormy skies in Bennett, Colorado on the evening of 8-25-2016. I wanted to shoot something uniquely different than your normal flower shot and I think the dark skies from the passing storm, the drooping heads of the flowers in the background, and the single ray of light on the lone raised sunflower head helped me accomplish my goal. I hope you appreciate it and find meaning in it as I do.
I am a photographer originally from Ohio who relocated to Colorado in 2014 in an effort to capture the beauty of the mountainous landscape and the majesty of its incredible wildlife. In the Spring and early Summer I can be found out on the plains of eastern Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming in pursuit of severe storm structure and, of course, tornadoes. Hopefully you will enjoy my images half as much as I enjoyed capturing them for you. Thank you for stopping by to check out my images! P.S. - All of the wildlife images you see in my gallery were shot in the wild in it's natural habitat. Sincerely, Brian Gustafson. (720) 512-7545

And here you accomplished what you sought to do; and more! Even the choice of flower for the task demands considerations of 'Uniqueness'. Such a sky, as would be appreciated by Martin Heade way back when; you capitalize on that unique light and the viewer is rewarded... Wonderful collection, marvelous examples of the raw force of nature that sweeps through the vastness of America! Much appreciated - tdp
