Heavy smoke and ash from at least four wildfires made for a spectacular sunset as the plumes came together creating a doughnut hole-like opening in the sky, and just above it, a rather distinctive woman's face over the foothills of Golden, Colorado on the evening of 9-30-2020. If you look closely at this image just above the doughnut hole, you will see a woman's face staring back at you from the clouds. The smoke to the left of the doughnut hole was from the Williams Fork Fire and the smoke to the right of the doughnut hole was from the Mullen, Middle Fork, and Cameron peak wildfires. This image was taken from the top of Golden, Colorado's South Table Mountain looking NNW on the evening of 9-30-2020.

I am a photographer originally from Ohio who relocated to Colorado in 2014 in an effort to capture the beauty of the mountainous landscape and the majesty of its incredible wildlife. In the Spring and early Summer I can be found out on the plains of eastern Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming in pursuit of severe storm structure and, of course, tornadoes.
