There are times when the light and the elements around you change in a way that what you see in front of you becomes more of a scene within a dream than normal reality, that is what happened to me on the evening of 7-27-2019 at Colorado's Rocky Mountain Arsenal. A passing storm darkened the skies and cast sweeping rain curtains that obscured the horizon and added drama to the scene. A sliver of light from the setting sun found its way through a break in the clouds to create a runway of golden light in front of me, and a lone tree in a level field of weathered grass created a perfect canvas for all of those elements to come together to create the image before you. I am a photographer originally from Ohio who relocated to Colorado in 2014 in an effort to capture the beauty of the mountainous landscape and the majesty of its incredible wildlife. In the Spring and early Summer I can be found out on the plains of eastern Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming in pursuit of severe storm structure and, of course, tornadoes.
